Tom Farrell's Services

OK--here's the schedule:  the viewing (Ro thinks Fr. T has in mind more an Irish wake than a viewing) will be Tuesday evening from 7-9pm and the funeral Wed. morning at 11am with lunch following.

Frannie and Bill are coming Tuesday around noon, staying at the rectory that night and leaving Wed. afternoon.

The Knights are doing an honor guard and Ro is asking the choir to do mostly John Penoyar music.

If anyone has photos they want to add to the display that will be in the hall, please bring them and be sure to put you name on them if you want them back....the poster that hung at Emmaus will be there........

Warm and wonderful
Tom wants Mary, Kathy. Barbara and Frannie to know that he is enjoying his beautiful warm and snuggly quilt.  He says you had it timed just right for the cold front.  Tom is having a good day today and anxiously awaiting the arrival of our son, Glen tonight.  Thank you all for the continued prayers and love sent our way. Thank You
To Fr. Tony, The Knights of Columbus, The Reach, Terry Cassidy, Contrio, fellow Peterites, and all our Friends in the Community,
We want to sincerely thank you for the kindness and love that you extended to us on Sunday, Jan.27.  We are truly humbled and know that Sunday will become one of our most beautiful memories.  Over the past few months your prayers have sustained us. Tom is trying very hard to regain his strength and he is improving each day.

Love and Thank you,
 Tom and Rosemary Farrell

OZ was necessary but THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME - Tom Update
Tom was bound and determined that Jan. 3 would be THE day of discharge.  Son, Glen came from VA to asst. with the move and set up at home.   The trip was tough for Tom.  It took a couple days to recoup. but he looks out the window each day and proclaims how beautiful it is to be home.  Our church family and neighborhood friends made the transision easy.  We were greeted with balloons and a Welcome home cake a refrigerator filled with everything grand and a dozen friends standing in the driveway.  Did I cry? What do you think!  It was such a feeling of "Iam home when I walked into St. Peter this Sun. and saw your beautiful faces.  All of your greetings are appreciated.  We are trying to get a routine together but I think it will have to wait until next wk. when things calm down.  This wk. visits from Visiting Nurse and Physical Therapy and Medical equip. supplier are taking up time that will not always be necessary.  We are trying to keep an exercise  schedule similar to the Rehab.  That is so important for Tom to regain his strength.  His voice is getting stronger and wounds are healing.  You are responsible for getting us so far in recovery.  Thanks for the prayers and the strength we receive from your love.  Ro and Tom

Update on Jim
Jim started his treatments this week and is doing well. His prostate was enlarged more than first expected and so he will be having a full eight weeks of radiation (Monday through Friday) in Key West. But the prognosis is great that it will shrink as well as killing all the cancer. Thanks for all your prayers.

Our daughter-in-law is home from the hospital. She is pretty depressed about not being able to nurse but the baby (Ocean Seamus) is doing fine.

Look forward to seeing everyone at Boondocks this Sunday.
Norma

TOM'S UPDATE DECEMBER 21

Hi Folks,
Tom was transferred to Miami Heart Rehabilitation Hosp. on Tues. evening.  His first day was evaluation of what he can do.  Thurs. and today he is on a 4 session schedule with physical and occupational therapy.  I am impressed with the program and yesterday Tom took more steps than he has so far.  It is an exhausting program but they only push him to his tolerance.  His cardiac condition is of concern.  Tom is really putting his all into cooperating with the plan.  Goals are being set.  Of course our goal is to get back home asap.  Wounds continue to heal but he is still being treated for CDif with antibiotics.
He enjoyed all the cards you sent up.  Our Centering group hit it right on the head with his favorite scriptures and we will center with you starting 6PM tonight.  He is enjoying the DVDs sent up via Deacon Bill and Frannie.
Again, we thank you all and feel all the love you send.
There is no internet access over at the new hosp. so I will have to come back to Mt.Sinai to update you.  I will get back to you at least once a wk.

We love you all, Rosemary
(Hi Nicholas)

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!

Jim Thompson
Dear Friends,
Jim and I just returned from Key West. He had 5 seeds (markers) implanted around the perimeter of his prostate. Then this afternoon we met with the oncologist and she said that from the x-rays and cat scan, it doesn't appear that the cancer has spread out of the prostate. YEAH!!! They did more scans and marked the outside of his body for treatment. He still has not been able to get the bone scan done because of lack of nuclear material.
He will start his treatment next Thursday, Dec. 27 and it will be five days a weeks. They have not determined how many weeks yet.
Jim is in great spirits and we are both delighted that we will be able to head up to Tampa this Thursday to see that precious new grandson, Ocean Seamus.
Please continue to keep him in your prayers. I will keep you updated on any changes.

Dec.12, Day 42 Tom's Update
Hi Everybody,
Here is the address for Tom for those of you who have been asking:
Tom Farrell
Mount Sinai Medical Ctr.
4300 Alton Road, Room 680
Miami Beach, FL33140

Tom was moved out of ICU on Mon. evening.  He is improving a little each day.  There is a lot of work for him ahead.  He has to be able to walk at least a little in order for him to be accepted into Rehab.  As you can imagine he is weak after all those days in bed and has to build up his strength.  His voice is still a whisper due to the ulcer on his vocal chord and he is still in isolation due to the CDif.  But, all in all is coming along. Today he stood at the bedside two times, worked with occupational therapy and physical therapy and was out of bed  for 2 hrs.  He is really trying and all he talks about is getting home.  You are vital in his recovery.  Your prayers are certainly working and we long for the day we can thank you in person.

Love to all of you, Rosemary

TOM's Update Dec.9
Hi Folks,
This was a rough wk. for Tom, but as usual the good Lord is listening to your prayers.  Yesterday, Tom sat on the side of the bed for almost an hour. He took more food than he has so far.  He is looking better and on the medical side of things his vital signs are stabelizing.  If all goes well, he will move out of ICU tomorrow to a step-down telemetry unit and gather his strength in order to move on to the Rehab Center.  Tom and I are so thankful for the gift of your prayers and love.  Thank you John Penoyer for the inspirational music.  We are very touched.
Thank you, Fr.Tony for making this venue available to us through your computer guru angels.

Tom is offering up the discomfort of  his days for all of you.

Love Rosemary

Tom & Rosemary

Thursday, December 6, 2007
Hi Folks,

It has been an event filled wk. Tom has had his ups and mostly downs this wk. He developed a colon infection and yesterday had a heart attack. He was taken to the cardiac cath. lab for a catheterization however it could not be completed do to the irrigularity of Tom's vessles. To proceed may have caused more problems. He will be managed on medications.
For the first time, I see his spirits dipping at times, but then he'll pull himself up again. His voice is still a whisper and he is still on pureed foods (sorta - since he can't eat what they send). I just got permission to bring something in for him.
So as usual we ask for your prayers and want you to know we feel your love.

Ro/Rosemary
